Our very own Rob Harrison has been appointed as the West Midlands Chair for the Federation of Small Business (FSB).
The FSB is Britain’s biggest business group and is a non-profit, non-party-political grassroots business organisation that provides its members with a wide range of vital business services. Which include advice, financial expertise, legal support and a powerful voice heard in Government for over 50 years.
Rob Harrison was previously the West Midlands representative on the FSB’s policy unit. The newly framed volunteer role of Chair includes the policy responsibilities as well as representing the FSB to members, prospect members and the wider business community.
Small businesses account for 99.2% of the nation’s business population, 36% of the turnover and 47% of its employees.
Rob, who is Consultancy Partner at Glued, said: “I am honoured to be appointed as Chair for the West Midlands. After 38 years in business and 22 running my own, it gives me a more structured way of giving back and doing my bit for other businesses in our region. Making sure small businesses are heard in local and national government. Contributing to the small business community so we can share and support each – whether that is informally or as members of the FSB.”
I’m also looking forward to continuing to work with the local FSB team. Who are not only a super bunch but also have many years’ invaluable experience of business support across the West Midlands.”
In his new role, Rob will be looking to help champion and represent FSB locally and also be a key part of the new English Policy Unit who discuss local and national issues from across England, to ensure FSB continue to be the leading business organisation representing the needs of small businesses and self-employed to national and local government.
