Surveys and star ratings tell you how many. Conversations tell you why. Most research projects include:

  • Independent, one-to-one conversations with your customers
  • Anonymous feedback, so people can be open
  • Open-ended questions that follow what matters to them
  • The real reasons people choose you, and what they'd change
  • How you compare with competitors, in their words
  • Testimonials you can use, with their approval

  2. listen

I arrange and hold the conversations, independently and in confidence, so people say what they really think.

  3. find the themes

Pull out the patterns: why people buy, what they value and where you could do better.

The qualitative approach is key. We’ve always said that we want a long term relationship with a client and don’t see them as just another ‘transaction’. If we did a multiple choice Trustpilot / Google type review, that’s transactional. Taking the time to want to listen to their feedback, I think, shows that we value and want to invest in the relationship and aren’t taking it for granted.
