Testing Engineer Apprentice

Job Description: Our client offers a testing service to a variety of industries to include, but not limited to, Aerospace, Medical, Nuclear, Mechanical and Construction. They examine the effectiveness and safety of components in various materials. Being ISO/IEC 17025 accredited they combine good training and logic to produce accurate results and reporting and provide safety and performance evidence. Testing will include making and extracting specimens, physical testing, fatigue. corrosion and standard mechanical testing. This will be with a variety of machinery and will require benchwork. You will be testing and/or manufacturing specimens from components made from ferrous and non-ferrous material The company encompasses a highly skilled laboratory and CNC department. They are an evolving ambitious team, investing in growth and new technologies and aim to provide all customers with an unmatched service.
Duties: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a successful candidate to enter an apprenticeship where they will be taught various testing engineering techniques. This is a career pathway to a life time of value. All staff will have a broad range of similar technical knowledge and practical skills to enable them to carry out their work safely, efficiently and correctly. You will work with Engineers, Programmers, Planners and other Testing Engineers to produce quality results in a timely manner. Learn to safely produce and extract parts using various tooling and machinery. You will train to be quality-minded while learning the flow process of testing. Some of the things that an engineer will be expected to do are: • Develop good working relationships with people • Operating/Setting/Programming various CNC machinery using Fanuc • Undertaking Milling, Turning, Grinding techniques • Operating/setting conventional machinery • Using Cryogenic chambers, vibrating, corrosion, bending and fatigue testing equipment • Be able to use Vernier’s, micrometres and other measuring equipment • Select (within limits) materials and equipment • Work within tolerances • Write reports and complete job sheets • Use polishing and etching equipment • Adhere to health and safety regulations

Duties: The successful Apprentice will be working along side trained staff to create, manufacture and check quality of lighting as well as other commercial or domestic products. • Design lighting using computer aided systems. • Manufacturing designed products from engineering drawings • Preforming tasks using handheld tools such as; Grinding, polishing. • Wiring electrical components • Quality checking
