Lean Engineering & Manufacturing Academy (LEMA): Next generation for Apprenticeships

Context: Lean Engineering & Manufacturing Academy (LEMA) are a ROAPT registered, ESFA approved, provider of Engineering and Manufacturing Apprenticeships. LEMA’s vision is to support employers in the identification, recruitment and training of some of the best young talent in the region. To assist motivated young people who are committed to a career in manufacturing and engineering find meaningful employment. Supporting them in developing the skills that will make them an asset to their employer today and the key to the long-term growth and success of UK manufacturing.
LEMA is part of the Leaping Man Group of businesses.
The requirement: LEMA needed a brand that would attract the best talent across the Midlands region. The brand needed to reflect the ‘leaping man’ identity of the parent group but give LEMA a unique style and brand language appropriate to the audience. The brand would need to be applied to marketing materials for employers, parents and apprentices.
The outputs:The brand essence focused on ‘Developing the next generation of engineering and manufacturing professionals’ – a proposition that is appropriate to each of the academy audiences.
The brand was applied to a WordPress website, marketing materials, signage and learner material.
The results: LEMAs first intake of 36 new Apprentices across its Birmingham and Black Country Academies are working towards their Level 3 Engineering Technician standards, which will enhance their Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours. Leading to professional recognition by a Professional Engineering Institute. This is an important and positive step in the early part of a young persons career. LEMA provided its apprentices with ongoing information, advice and guidance alongside the teaching and learning activities, to ensure that the Apprentices are ready to take the next step in their careers on completion of their qualifications.
