Enterprising Entertainment

Newlyweds Lois and Graham Thomas got more from their wedding than they bargained for. As well as wedded bliss they got the inspiration for a new business.

As they couldn’t find a mobile and remote solution for stylishly serving drinks for their guests – they created their own one. They created both a Pimp your Prosecco and a Gin bar that worked remote from services. They also added giant ‘LOVE letters’ and giant picture frames to provide a context for photographs and a giant archway for the wedding party and their guest to enter through.

The new Warwickshire Events branding by Glued

This attracted so much attention and interest during and after the wedding Lois and Graham courted some contacts and secured a space in the Wasps Fan Village for their Christmas Cracker game at the Ricoh arena.  With Lois’s background in exhibition design and construction and Graham’s background in environmental health they are the ideal pair to put together the perfect package to deliver what Wasps wanted. All they were missing was a company and identity to transact and market their proposition.

On advice from Chamber member Nishi Mehta of Career Mums, Lois and Graham approached Glued. In the space of just three weeks Glued took Lois and Graham through a logo creation and development process, agreed on a logo, created brand guidelines, launched a web site and sent business cards to print.

So it is that Warwickshire Events has been born – a bespoke events business formed by two ideally experienced professionals. Keep a look out for their ‘dancing bear ‘– you could be supping their cocktails or being photographed with their props at an event during 2019.

Graham Thomas said “Amazing work from this talented company, created just the right brand with a feel of confidence, inspiration, fun but professional”.

Putting bums on seats

Glued helps Coventry University put ‘bums on seats’ for its Prince2® business courses through effective online marketing campaign and creative messaging.

The brief from Dr Neil Pyper, Associate Head of the School of Strategy & Leadership (Enterprise and Commercial) was to drive registrations for the Coventry University’s Prince2 project management course. The courses had been running at capacity and often with many candidates from the University itself.

Glued worked with Coventry University to tightly define the target audience of HR professionals in the IT, Telecommunications, Construction and Engineering within a 50 mile radius of the University. Then by working out a set of engaging propositions Glued generated e-shots, social media graphics, social media messaging and social media advertising.

Over a six month period Glued managed and monitored an email and social media campaign. Monitoring progress, trialling a variety of messages and images to progressively increase reach, followers, click throughs and ultimately registrations to the course.

From partly filled courses with a majority of Coventry University personnel, the latest two Prince 2 course programmes were not only full but also the majority of candidates were from outside the University.

Rob Harrison from Glued said “It has been so fulfilling to see the efforts we went to delivering a result for Coventry University. We are looking forward to applying the same principle to other continuous professional development courses for the University.”

Dr Neil Pyper from Coventry University added “After a period of struggling to fill spaces our last two cohorts have been fully subscribed and we are booking to extend the campaign to support recruitment into the future.”
